It is a condition that results from excessive stress or strain on the plantar fascia, which is a structure that runs across the bottom of your foot. Plantar fasciitis causes heel and/or arch pain that most commonly occurs when walking after periods of inactivity, when getting out of bed in the morning, and when you are on your feet for an extended time.
