Warts

Warts

The bottom of the foot is a common place to get warts. Washing your feet and not sharing shoes or sandals is the best way to avoid warts on the foot.

Warts are commonly found on the feet.  They are particularly common in children and teenagers, but may occur at any age.  They are caused by a virus.  It may take some time after exposure to the virus for the wart(s) to appear.  They can be contagious and spread easily, so it is important not to touch or pick at the warts.  The most common way that we treat warts is by applying a strong acid in the office.  This is not painful, and also has the advantage of allowing us to get rid of the wart without leaving a scar that could potentially be painful for the patient.
